Chamber Music & Improv 2009

Chamber Music and Improvisation Immersion, October 3-7, 2009

This Saturday through Tuesday workshop includes two hours of chamber music study (we will read through Schubert's String Quintet in C major strings, piano, flutes, you name it, to experience the music for everyone, not only strings) in the morning and two hours of improvisation/applied music theory and rhythm work in the afternoon. Music reading required, but beyond that, we welcome many levels of musical experience, from late beginner to intermediate/advanced. Those music readers who are new to improvisation are encouraged to take small, safe steps into playing in a group by ear.

Accommodations at local B&B or Youth Hostel in Point Reyes National Seashore will be attendee's responsibility, but workshop leader can assist with arrangements. Price ranges from $25 (hosteling or camping)-$200 (fancy B&B) per night in the area. Call with questions about accommodations and transportation. Four Day Immersion Fee: $400 (covers instruction only) Bring your own lunches. Dining available at several fine restaurants in evenings. Breathtaking evening walks.
